| Standard Water Quality Test |
| pH - A range of 6.8 to 8.5 pH units is acceptable. High or low pH may signal fixture or pipe deterioration. |
| Total Dissolved Solids – An indication of the total potential contaminants in the water, 500 ppm or less is acceptable. |
| Turbidity – An indication of possible contamination, less than 5 NTU is considered acceptable. |
| Hardness – Less than 100 ppm total hardness is preferable, greater than 500 ppm is unacceptable. |
| Iron – Three ppm or less is acceptable. May indicate deteriorated plumbing fixtures and pipes. |
| Copper – Health hazard, 1.3 ppm or less is acceptable. May also indicate deteriorated plumbing fixtures or pipes. |
| Lead – Health hazard. Test for presence or absence only. Positive test may require lab verification (extra charge). |
| Sulfate – Possible health hazard, 250 ppm or less is acceptable. |
| Nitrate – Health hazard, less than or equal to 10 ppm is acceptable |
| Chloride – Used as a disinfectant in water supplies. Concentrations greater than 4 ppm can cause health problems. |
| Coliform Bacteria – Health hazard and may indicate leaking or defective water supply, septic systems and/or sewage lines. On site test for presence or absence only. Positive test may require lab verification (extra charge). |
